Delivering Happiness: Coming Together to Bring Mother’s Day Joy

Mother’s Day is an incredible opportunity to honor the mothers in our lives. One of the ways people show their gratitude is to send flowers. This year at Seabreeze, a lighthearted conversation between our Vice President of Community Management, Alisa Toalson, and Richelle Davidson, our Corporate Lifestyle Director, opened the door to Seabreeze partnering with a local business to celebrate mothers in the community. Thanks to these two incredible women, the Seabreeze team helped Seasons Florist deliver bouquets to deserving mothers all across Orange County.
During that conversation, Alisa expressed to Richelle that her life-long dream was to be a delivery driver for a flower shop. She wanted to “deliver happiness” and see the looks on recipients’ faces when they saw the bouquets. Coincidentally, Richelle once owned a flower shop. Knowing that Mother’s Day was fast approaching and that it’s one of the busiest times of the year for florists, Richelle asked Alisa if she’d be interested in volunteering to deliver flowers. After an emphatic “yes” from Alisa, they decided to turn the idea into a Seabreeze team building endeavor.
Richelle reached out to Seasons Florist and spoke with Joann. After learning that the Seabreeze team wanted to help a local business that has been impacted by COVID-19 and was offering to deliver Mother’s Day bouquets for free, Joann was brought to tears. “In the 40 years that I’ve been in the flower business no one has offered to do anything like this for me,” she said. After Joann accepted the offer, they hatched a plan for Seabreeze team members to deliver bouquets from Thursday, May 5th through Saturday, May 8th.
Eighteen Seabreeze team members signed up to deliver over 175 arrangements, including Isaiah Henry, our CEO, and Karen Inman, our President. Alisa even took her daughter with her to deliver flowers on Saturday! As luck would have it, Alisa’s first delivery fulfilled her dream of seeing a thrilled mother receive her bouquet. In fact, she was so excited that she shed a few tears. Both Alisa and her daughter were able to “deliver happiness” to a member of our local community.
